v1.4.16
YouTube songs play through — the one you tapped, not a random match. Search is faster, and jam and lofi are in the app.
Tapping a YouTube row used to start a different song, and YouTube rows themselves often died after half a minute. Those were the same bug seen from two sides: the app was reading the truncated kind of YouTube stream, then substituting a catalogue lookalike. Both are gone.
Jam — listen together
Start a room, send the six-letter code, and everyone hears the same second of the same song. Works with the website too. If the connection drops, the music does not.
Lofi mode
The same characters as the website — Chill, Sleepy, Study, Tape deck, Old record, Rainy night — applied as a slower speed and a warmer, darker equaliser, which is what a phone can actually do.
Search hits every source at once
YouTube, Spotify, PagalWorld and the catalogue used to wait for each other. They now fire together, and you can filter to one source so a YouTube upload is not buried under a catalogue twin.
The in-app player caught up with the website
Volume, share, jam and lofi sit on the now-playing screen, next to sleep and the queue. Lyrics, the equaliser, shuffle and repeat were already there.
Tapping a YouTube song now plays that song
1.4.14 tried the main catalogue first because adaptive YouTube links die at about a megabyte. The match was scored on cleaned titles, so a different recording often won — which is exactly "pata nhi konsa song chal jata hai". The app now plays the YouTube upload you tapped. A catalogue stand-in is a last resort, and only when the titles really are the same recording.
YouTube songs play all the way through
The one-megabyte ceiling is real, but it only applies to adaptive audio-only links (itag 140/251). ANDROID returns a progressive muxed stream (itag 18) that serves the whole file — measured end to end on the same video, the same minute, where the adaptive URL 403s past 1 MB. The app now asks ANDROID first, prefers that complete stream, and stops the 1 MB re-mint dance when it already has one.
Good to know
- A YouTube kill-switch in /admin now actually turns YouTube search off. It used to look up the wrong key.
